June 3, 2008 was the 200th anniverary of the birth of Jefferson Davis, President of the CSA.
Among the first celebrations commemorating the birthday of Confederate President Jefferson Davis was a grand rededication of Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Gulf-front home in Biloxi, Mississippi. (photo right) The June 3 event was well attended with a number of his descendants present.

Spectators lined the walk in front of the Davis mansion to view and photograph the ceremony.
A bicentennial birthday celebration was held at the Alabama State Capitol Building on June 14, 2008. Sponsors were the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Order of the Confederate Rose, and the Alabama Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
