(Major General William J. Hardee was commander of the Army of the Mississippi/Army of Tennessee.) Cassady is a descendant of Sgt. Colby P. Stapp, Co. K.

This 38th Alabama "Hardee Flag" was based on the pattern of those belonging to the Army of the Mississippi/Army of Tennessee (corps of Major General William J. Hardee). It was captured during the Battle of Missionary Ridge in November of 1863.
