A colorful rendering of the 38th Alabama Infantry muster roll. The work features a painting of the headquarters building at the top and lists the names of the officers of the unit.

Surrounding these names are depictions of the quarters occupied by the captains of the companies. This art work was presented to the regiment commander, Colonel Charles T. Ketchum.

The companion work shows a complete roster of the men of the regiment lined up in ten columns corresponding to the ten companies.

The art work is owned by Charles A. Ketchum of Navasota, Texas, who is the great-grandson of Colonel Charles T. Ketchum.
